Extended Council 2007

Together for life and life in abundance" - we, the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady, coming from different countries and with different cultures and languages, met in Paris as an Extended Council. Together, we actively submitted ourselves to the Word of God.

We took note of the expectations, the weaknesses and the strengths of the Congregation in order to seek the proper path to commit ourselves to a lifelong project.

We are convinced:

of the primordial place held by the Word of God in
our personal and communal lives.
of the importance of "being" over "doing".
of the life of our fellow man in this world that has been torn apart by divisions
and individualism, yearning for a new spirituality.

We give priority to life over structures.

We encourage communication, dialogue, sharing and solidarity with a family spirit.

We are committed to being there for people of all ages, and to constantly live up to our mission.

We dare to do set work in motion that will open the way to new presences that have been called into question by the challenges of the modern age.

We wish to be guided by life and to take on changes with a positive and contemplative outlook, because we believe that the Spirit is at work.

We commit to a more active and mutually responsible participation, for a spiritual, charismatic and prophetic renewal of the Congregation.

We wish to see the radicality of the Gospel in the way of Saint Francis of Assisi, whilst remaining aware of the need to giving oneself and of the requirements imposed by this commitment.

Further, we now intend to: "Go and repair my Church!"

We sign this Declaration with our hearts full of mercy and we are happy to open our hearts to you.
