Appointment every first Sunday of the month with the Sisters
"Let us go elsewhere, to the neighboring villages, so that there too I may proclaim the Good News" (Mark, 1, 38)
On the first Sunday of each month, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at 220 rue de la Convention, the Franciscan sisters open their chapel and their small walled garden. Parishioners from Notre-Dame de La Salette and Saint Lambert come to support them to welcome people passing by.
The welcome team tells us about the interesting encounters that happen every Sunday:
- Véronique: a lot of heavy things to carry. For three years her life has changed, and she has now fallen into a spiral of: physical accident, unemployment, imminent loss of housing ... The brothers' prayer comforted her.
- Olivier: had come last month, had spoken of his difficulties, while refusing to enter the chapel. His only son is autistic, a tragedy that revolts him. "God betrayed me! ". But this time, he agreed to come to the Blessed Sacrament to offer a prayer. We were able to entrust him to the Virgin, and together recite a Hail Mary. If he has felt compelled to come back this month, he will surely come back a third time!
- Bernard has been a resident of the quarter since 1960 who did not know the chapel. He spoke loud and clear in front of the Blessed Sacrament awakening the little chapel in prayer. Laughter, joy in his eyes, proud to give us the etymology of his first name, "Courageous Bear"! Bernard had not set foot in a church too much since his children were in catechesis. He will come back, he told us.
- Steven, a young South African, skateboard in hand, remained praying for a long time in the chapel and placed an intention at the feet of Jesus, we prayed with the same voice the Our Father in French and English, a beautiful moment of universal brotherhood.
- A couple from the neighborhood, also discovering the cloister and the chapel for the first time, amazed by this place and by this dedication to the Hope that our world needs so much. Very moved to receive the word "I love you with an eternal Love" as a resonance to his marital promise.
You are all welcome ! Either to spend a time of prayer before or after your Sunday morning mass, or to come and help the team present in the market. Taking part in this mission is much easier than it looks! It is enough to know how to smile, and to know how to say hello ...
