First Sunday of Advent - 2021
“Prepare through the wilderness the way of the Lord.
Trace in the arid lands a level road for our God.
Every ravine will be filled in, every mountain and every hill will be lowered,
winding passages will become straight!"
(Isaiah 40, 3-4).
Lord, this Advent season,
You give it to me
Like a path to prepare.
This road is at the heart of my heart,
This place where I am fully known
From You alone, God, my creator.
Come join me in my arid lands,
And my deserts,
Those times when I feel dry
Whereas in my life it is night.
Help me to smooth the road for You,
To fill the ravines of my fears
Of my failures and my ruptures.
Give me the simplicity of a child's heart,
To bring back to their proper measure
All that seems impossible mountain to me.
May your Spirit help me
To make it simple and straight
What life has made tortuous and difficult
In my relationships with others,
In my heart and in my body.
Come Lord Jesus.
Come to our land
Look, Lord our God,
Your people gathered.
Come and live in this land of ours,
This land of God as we call it.
Come to the heart of our doubts,
Come to the heart of our questions.
Come and shake up our habits again today,
Open our horizons, bloom our deserts,
So that with Jesus, your Son who saves us,
We also brought Salvation to our most humble brothers,
The poorest.
Amen.
